Solid-State metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) type sensors have been used in industrial gas monitoring for many years. These devices are typically broad-spectrum detectors that are characterized and optimized for the intended target gas. While the sensors are not specific for a particular volatile compound, they often provide a practical, continuous detection method where other commonplace technologies (electrochemical, infrared, pid, etc.) do not apply.
