HFC-134a (R-134a, Tetrafluoroethane) is a non-flammable gas used primarily as a high-temperature refrigerant for domestic refrigeration and automobile air conditioners. Although generally considered non-flammable, mixtures with high concentrations of air at elevated pressure and/or temperature can be ignited. At elevated temperatures, the vapor may decompose to produce highly toxic products including Hydrogen Fluoride gas.
